fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry,
“Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we
are God’s children. (Rom 8:15-16 NIV)

Prayer: LORD, some people seek their identity and value in their
position, their possessions, or their influence over others. Because
of who I am in You, I can be secure with what I do and what I have.
Positions, possessions, and people may change, but You will never
change. Help me remain committed and faithful to our relationship,
not because I am afraid of the consequences if I do not, but because
I love You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what
you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will
I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I
will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” (Heb 13:5-6 NIV)

Prayer: LORD, in these economically unstable and difficult times, it
is easy to think that the more money we have, the more secure we
are. Help me understand where true security is. Only in You can I be
secure, no matter what happens, regardless of what I do or do not
have. Help me to make this not just words I say, but the way I live
every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

people around, and yet they are called ‘friends of the people.’ But
among you, those who are the greatest should take the lowest rank,
and the leader should be like a servant. Normally the master sits
at the table and is served by his servants. But not here! For I am
your servant. (Luke 22:25-27 NLT)

Prayer: LORD, Your ways are so different from just about everyone
and everything else! There are times when doing things Your way
causes me to be seen as “odd” by other people. But my relationship
with You is more important to me than theirs. Give me courage to
stand strong when Your ways conflict with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer: LORD, thank You for our relationship. To know You love me
and care about my life is almost more than I can comprehend! I am
grateful that I can bring my concerns to You and know You hear me
and are pleased when I do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

wash yourself seven times in the Jordan River. Then your skin will
be restored, and you will be healed of leprosy.” But Naaman became
angry and stalked away. “I thought he would surely come out to meet
me!” he said. “I expected him to wave his hand over the leprosy and
call on the name of the LORD his God and heal me! But his officers
tried to reason with him and said, “Sir, if the prophet had told you
to do some great thing, wouldn’t you have done it? So you should
certainly obey him when he says simply to go and wash and be cured!”
So Naaman went down to the Jordan River and dipped himself seven
times, as the man of God had instructed him. And his flesh became as
healthy as a young child’s, and he was healed! (2 Ki 5:10-11, 13-14 NLT)

Prayer: LORD, I have my ideas about the way things should be done,
but I want to be willing to do whatever You say, whenever and
however You say it should be done. When my way conflicts with Yours,
help me always yield to You because Your way is always best. In
Jesus’ name, Amen.

repay him for what he has done. You too should be on your guard
against him, because he strongly opposed our message. (2 Tim 4:14-15 NIV)

Prayer: LORD, when someone is intentionally harmful to me or what
You have set me to do, I would like to reason with them and work
things out. But that may not be possible because some people are
just mean, and that is the nicest thing I can say about them. Give
me wisdom to know when to try to get along with someone, and when to
avoid them altogether. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Jesus the Son of God. Let us cling to him and never stop trusting
him. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he
faced all of the same temptations we do, yet he did not sin. So let
us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will
receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need
it. (Heb 4:14-16 NLT)

Prayer: LORD, it is difficult to comprehend that You really
understand the pain, frustration, discouragement, and so many other
things that I feel. Yet, You do. Help me understand this and see You
not just as God and Lord, but also as my friend, companion, helper,
encourager, and One who really understands and cares about the bad
days as well as the good. In Jesus’ name, Amen

In the following directives I have no praise for you, for your
meetings do more harm than good. In the first place, I hear that
when you come together as a church, there are divisions among you,
and to some extent I believe it. No doubt there have to be
differences among you to show which of you have God’s approval.
(1 Cor 11:17-19 NIV)

Prayer: LORD, individuality is good, but like anything, it can be
taken to extremes. Everyone has different talents and abilities, but
sometimes we allow our differences to divide us. Show us all how to
be diverse without being divided. Show us how to live and love each
other and You in unity, the way You intended. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer: LORD, I feel empty and cloaked in darkness at times too.
Cause new light to be in my life and overcome every dark place with
the radiance of Your Spirit. Do whatever You need to do to bring me
in agreement with Your vision and purpose for my life. In Jesus’
name, Amen.

their enemies! How soon my hands would be upon their foes! (Psa 81:13-14 NLT)

Prayer: LORD, so many prayers involve crying out to You for help in
crisis, intervention in difficult circumstances, and so on. But I
wonder if You hear many prayers asking for help in hearing You and
following Your instructions. Today, help me hear You clearly,
understand what You are saying to me, and follow it with all my
heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
